Due to the epidemic and various academic reasons in 2022, I watched very few movies, so I gave up on the annual movie selection for that year. In 2023, after completely returning to normal life order, the frequency of watching movies increased. This year, I watched a total of 40 movies, including 9 animated ones.
For many students, going to the cinema near the school gate is a common thing, but it was only this year that I experienced such an environment for the first time. Among the movies I watched this year, at least 25 were watched in the cinema. It is regrettable that although the movies "Stories of Yong'an Town" and "The Light of the White Tower" were released in theaters, for various reasons, I did not go to see them on the first weekend. Thinking about watching them later, there were almost no more showings.

- Best Movie of the Year: "Anatomie d'une chute (Anatomy of a Fall)" 2023 by Roustin Thériault
Personally rated as the best of the year. As an art film that won the Golden Palm Award, its authorship and artistry go without saying. At the same time, this film is not lacking in form, and the courtroom scenes completely match my preferences. - Animated Movie of the Year: "Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest" 2023 by Tatsuya Ishihara
Choosing this film is purely my personal preference. Although this film is less than an hour long, just meeting the definition of a feature-length animation, and can be seen as a large trailer for a series next year, this film, as the first reboot of the "Sound!" series after the arson case, can be said to be of great significance. - Film Festival Movie of the Year: "The Newspaper" 2020 by Sarath Kotagama / Kumara Thirimadura
I watched 3 movies at the Shanghai International Film Festival this year, and also watched some films at the daily film festival organized by Shanghai Art Link. I think film festivals provide a sense of ceremony on one hand, and on the other hand, they broaden the perspective of watching movies, allowing you to see some films that you wouldn't normally watch. For example, this film "The Newspaper" is a Sri Lankan film that I watched at the Shanghai International Film Festival and Peace Cinema. The film was also very exciting.
